Hi I’m Fay,
My vocation is to empower children, adults and families to become the very best they can be in all areas of life. I look for ways to enhance wellbeing and implement them into my practice. I enable clients to reach goals they never thought they would reach. I give healing to those that felt they could never be well. I help to resolve issues that can overshadow the joy of being part of a family. I give adults and children confidence to be proud of who they are and what they can achieve.
I bring harmony and understanding into my practice and have true empathy with my clients. I help them to celebrate who they are and realise that they are
enough and always have been.
As a child I was often in trouble for not sitting still or talking too much. I went through school not really wanting to be there. I was bullied from the age of 6 to 11 and never really felt like I fitted in. At Senior school I avoided going in as much as I could and would fabricate illness to keep away. I left school at 16 and went off to work in various offices. Again I didn't really feel as though I fitted in, I didn't suit the corporate image and never really wanted to be part of the in-crowd preferrring to keep myself to myself. I had plenty of friends at home and enjoyed a good drink and my music. It wasn't until I had my children that my world changed completely. I was not always the perfect parent to my girls (I don’t think there is such a thing!) It took me a long time to come to terms with the fact that my youngest daughter, who was diagnosed with autism at 3 years old, may never have the life that I had planned for her. I had bouts of depression, anxiety, and self-doubt, and sometimes felt that I could not cope with the demands that had been thrown at me. I had to be stronger than I ever thought I would and often felt that I had nobody to turn to. I blamed myself for what had happened to my daughter and felt that I had somehow made this happen. I did not feel good enough to be a parent to my two wonderful children and worried that they would suffer because I felt so down about myself. Luckily when my daughter was 3 years old I was introduced to an amazing Therapeutic Programme that changed all of our lives. This enabled my youngest daughter to access the community and helped her to communicate her needs and relieved so much of her frustration. Specialist schooling for her Speech and Language disorder then increased her ability to join society and lead an active and fulfilling life. Due to my expertise and understanding of autism I was asked to work with a young boy at the local school my daughter went to. This led to a long career of working with and supporting young people. My daughters have both turned out to be amazing adults who lead full and productive lives and I now look back with pride on what we managed to achieve as a family.
Personal Experience
I have worked with children and families in many roles. I was very proud and happy to be a Teacher for many years. Following the covid epidemic and resulting increase in anxiety and mental health issues in children I realised that I would be able to help resolve isssues that were deeply afffecting people more by training to become a Life Coach and Transformational Therapist. Having an Honours degree in Psychology, training as a Behavioural Analysis Practitioner, Support Mentor, Family support worker, Mental Health First Aider and being the Mental Wellbeing Leader for my school made me realise that my talent and calling were better served in reaching out to youngsters and their families when their lives were overshadowed by unhappiness, or confusion, for one reason or another.
As a Teacher, I was always aware that to properly support a child’s needs I also need to understand the dynamics and values of their family. In my practice I like to get to know you and what your values and unique life experiences are. Here is a lovely Testimonial I received from a parent of a child on the autistic spectrum when I was a Teacher:
I chose to work with children and families as my own experience as a child gives me huge empathy with any child that has difficulties at school and within social situations. Having a daughter with complex needs has also made me more aware of the frustrations and anxiety apparent in many young people and the need for sensitive handling of these issues. I can also fully empathise with any parent or carer that becomes down, frustrated, or insecure about their parenting or indeed about themselves. I am not here to judge anybody but would love to help create a fulfilling journey to a calm and balanced family life. I will be tenacious, resilient, and intuitive on your behalf. I believe that every single person is born ‘enough’ and we need to instil this belief back into our way of thinking. You will lead the way to your own future with me by your side to facilitate and enjoy the journey with you. I can give you and your child or children the tools you need to feel strong, resilient, and confident. I can help you conquer the habits that you want to leave behind and give you the strategies that you need to move forward and never look back. I wish that there had been someone like me around when I was raising my daughters as I would have jumped at the chance of some positive and constructive support and ongoing coaching.
It has now become my passion to help as many children and families as I can using this exciting and transforming therapy along with the wealth of experience that I have accumulated over the past 30 years. I look forward to energising you and your family with new vitality to enjoy the future.
